These are a few of the highlights in our webinar: Top Free and Low-Cost Software For Healthcare Providers featuring free or low-cost software options for small to mid-sized healthcare providers.

  • Open Office: OpenOffice is a traditional open-source office productivity suite that is completely free.  The suite consists of word processing, spreadsheet, and slide presentation features (familiar equivalents to this suite would be Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, which are editable and readable in OpenOffice).  Open Office also includes drawing tools for working with images (familiar equivalent to the Windows Paint accessory).  OpenOffice is downloaded and runs on local computers.
  • G Suite:  This is Google's version of office productivity software that is available online only.  Google Docs, Google Sheets and Google Slides are its word processing, spreadsheet, and slide presentation features.  A bonus feature of this platform is that it offers real-time sharing and editing capabilities so you can have multiple people working on the same file collaboratively.  G Suite does not offer a desktop version and runs with an internet connection.
  • GnuCash:  This is an open-source accounting software package that can handle multiple currencies, manage budgets, invoice and payroll processing, as well as generate financial reports such as balance sheets and profit and loss statements.
  • Gliffy:  This is web-based diagramming software used to create flowcharts, organization charts, and various other types of diagrams online.  Gliffy diagrams can be shared with and edited by users in real time.  It also offers the capability to view and edit Visio files.
  • When I Work:  This is free employee scheduling software (up to 75 users) that features online scheduling, team messaging, integration with payroll vendors, and the ability to track and monitor overtime hours.  It can run on mobile devices and offers customer support.
  • PracticeSuite:  This is a web-based practice management platform free for sole practitioners.  It offers patient scheduling, billing and collections tools, as well as financial reporting features.
  • CoverMyMeds:  This is a drug prior authorization request software solution that offers free access to any healthcare provider with a valid NPI.  It provides access to prior authorization forms for all drugs for most insurance providers.
