Whiteboard_Templates_Menu in Teams

Last week we introduced you to the Microsoft Whiteboard as a virtual solution to spark creativity in a Teams meeting. In this article, we expand on that concept by featuring Whiteboard Templates that are now available in Teams. Templates help you avoid starting a meeting with just a blank whiteboard by offering designs and inspiration to make Teams meetings more engaging and fun.

Whiteboard templates can be accessed by selecting the Templates button in the Create panel on a blank Whiteboard accessed in a Teams meeting. This will launch the Templates menu where you can scroll to browse and expand any one of the template categories and see a sample layout.

There are over fifty Whiteboard Templates organized in the following categories:

  • Brainstorming –  explore creative ideas
  • Problem solving –  analyze and resolve problems
  • Design and research –  deepen customer focus
  • Strategy –  move from strategy to execution faster
  • Project planning –  increase productivity and outcomes
  • Retrospective –  reflect and improve
  • Games –  engage and energize groups
  • Workshops –  inspire and facilitate groups
  • Learning –  observe and learn

When you select a Template thumbnail it loads on your mouse and can be placed anywhere on the Whiteboard. The templates have sizing handles, text editing, color choices and much more. You can even use more than one template on the Whiteboard!

Here is an example of a Problem solving template that can be used to address a customer problem:
