Adding a Network Share to Microsoft Access Trusted Location

You need to add a folder on a network share as a “Trusted Location” in Microsoft Access so that access will open Access databases with full features from that path.

Solution

This can be done using the File tab in Microsoft Access.

  1. Run MS Access, switch to the File tab in the ribbon, the click “Options”.
  2. In the left-column, select Trust Center then click the “Trust Center Settings…” button.
  3. In the new window, select Trusted Documents, then confirm that “Allow documents on a network to be trusted” is checked.
  4. Switch to the Trusted Locations tab, check “Allow Trusted Locations on my network (not recommended)”. Then click “Add new location” and enter the path to the folder you want to trust.
