You’ve created a network share and assigned a security group to manage access. You then created a GPO to setup the network drive mapping but the mapping does not happen.
There are a few things to check:
- Verify Rights. Verify the user is in the right security group necessary to access the network share. An easy way to test this is to try and manually click on the share when the user is logged in. If that fails then the GPO will fail.
- Verify No Backslash. Open the Group Policy Management Editor for your domain, and explore to ‘User Configuration -> Preferences -> Windows Settings -> Drive Maps’ and then verify that none of the shares have a trailing ”, otherwise the share(s) won’t map, i.e. the share should look like \NAS3SharedFolderName
- Verify GPO is updated. Verify using gpupdate and gpresult. (We have an article on gpresult.)
