Force a Backup to Run in Acronis

You need to force a backup of a machine protected by a backup policy in Acronis.

You can’t just click on a machine and say “Backup” since that creates an ad hoc backup that is not part of the normal backup policy. Instead, you need to run an extra backup under an existing backup policy. This isn’t too difficult to do fortunately.

Perform the following:

  1. Open the AMS.
  2. Click on <server-name>->Tasks
  3. Find the Tasks for your backup policy. For example, if the server is named “dc-3” you’ll see a Task like “dc-3 Incremental Backup”.
  4. Right-click that Task.
  5. Click Run.

The Task will now run.
