You have a computer that won’t seem to forget a now non-working Offline Files location (perhaps you removed the share), and every time a user logs off or on they get a warning. You want to force the computer to forget about the Offline Files connection.
You can use mobsync for this, which is the command-line tool to configure Offline Files.
This article is specific to Windows XP. With Windows 7, it seems some of the control went away, although ‘mobsync’ still invokes the Sync Center
- Login as the target user having the issue on the client machine.
- Click Start.
- Click Run.
- Enter mobsync
- Items to Synchronize will open, listing your current Offline Files connections.
- Click Setup.
- In the Logon/Logoff tab, deselect the connection you want to forget.
- Click Ok.
- Click Close.
Technically, we aren’t forgetting the connection–we’re just telling Offline Files to not worry about syncing it.
