Updating AVG via Remote Command Line in GFI

You need to update AVG anti-virus but cannot interrupt the customer by remoting in.

Below is a way to use GFI’s Remote Command Line utility to force AVG to update.

  1. Log into GFI MAX Remote Command Line on the machine.
  2. Navigate to the following Directory: C:Program FilesAVGAVG2012 or on a 64-bit machine C:Program Files (x86)AVGAVG2012
  3. Use the following commands: avgmfapx.exe /AppMode=UPDATE  or on a 64-bit machine run avgmfapx.exe /AppMode=UPDATE

The program will now update as it would had you selected update in the GUI.

You can also run this same command on other versions by changing the version folder name for the following versions:  AVG 2012, AVG 2011 and AVG 9.0.

Change the folder name under ProgramFilesAVGAVG2012 to AVG10 for AVG 2011, AVG9 for 9.0, and of course leave it as AVG2021 for version 2012
