You want to use Internet Explorer (IE) as an FTP client.
This is easily done.
- Start your web browser.
- Enter the FTP address in the form of ftp://ftp.example.com. Note, IE sometimes doesn’t that URL when working with some FTP websites, so use the cheatsheet below:
Internet Explorer: Use “ftp://firstname.lastname@example.org”
Chrome: Use “ftp://ftp.example.com”
Firefox: Use “ftp://ftp.example.com”
- You will be prompted your FTP username and password. For some FTP services, the username is of the form “username”, while for others it is “email@example.com”.
Remember, if IE or Windows Explorer reports an error trying your website, you may need to use the format “ftp://firstname.lastname@example.org” when entering the address.
