You have an iPhone that syncs its contacts with your PC or Exchange and your contacts contains a lot of duplicates, odd email address-only entries, etc.
This is very confusing until you find out that the iPhone is showing the same contacts from different apps. For example, if you are syncing with your Exchange server Contacts folder and you have Facebook and LinkedIn installed as apps, your iPhone is defaulting to showing you contacts from all three! It’s a mess.
Generally, you only want one source of contacts, at least for business users.
- Grab your iPhone.
- Click on Contacts.
- Click on Groups in the top-left.
- De-select everything other than Contacts. For example, you may see All Contacts, Contacts, LinkedIn, Facebook, Suggested Contacts. Just leave Contacts selected.
- Go back to your Contacts and notice how much cleaner everything is!
