You are running Windows 7 and you can’t see any Offline Files options in Explorer when you right-click a file or folder. Further, if you look at the CscService Service, it’s dead and you can’t start it. When trying to start it, you get the error:
The Offline Files service terminated with the following error:
The system cannot find the path specified.
Your Offline Files cache is corrupted. You need to re-initialize the cache per Microsoft.
Per Microsoft, you can force Windows to clear the cache via a Registry setting.
- Open Regedit
- Create an entry in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionNetCache:
Key Name: FormatDatabase
Key Type: DWORD
Key Value: 1
- Reboot the PC
